Arming: a Moroccan-made drone can detect a target without GPS

Moroccan company Ballistic Defense System (BDS) announced on September 28, 2026, the completion of a prototype of an autonomous drone capable of navigation without GPS by analyzing terrain relief and altitude maps. Equipped with vision and AI systems, it can autonomously identify and approach targets, demonstrated in tests with a HQ-9 missile defense system. Real-flight tests in Belgium covered over 800 kilometers, and a larger operational drone weighing around 250 kg with a theoretical range of 2000 km is being developed.
