Army clears air on soldier’s death in Katsina

The 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of Corporal Ude Jude, who was attacked while on duty at the Forward Operating Base in Funtua. Contrary to media reports, Jude was not a lieutenant but a corporal, and the incident stemmed from a physical altercation with a civilian. After receiving medical care, he tragically passed away on March 24, 2026, after being rushed back to the brigade's medical center.
