Joseph Jessy Dunga, a visual arts student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa, won the 2026 Art Humanité Prize in the international category for his work “The Strength of the Fragile.” The piece pays tribute to the solidarity and resilience of the Gwaka people of Sud-Ubangi, with whom Dunga is connected through his family history. The ICRC and the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa organized the edition, which received 41 entries and shortlisted 15 works.
