ASUU threatens showdown with Wike over UniAbuja land

The University of Abuja branch of ASUU is threatening industrial action against Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike unless disputed university land allocated to private companies and individuals is returned. Branch chairman Dr Sylvanus Ugoh says the allocations defy an interlocutory injunction issued by the Maitama High Court on August 18, 2026, and urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene. ASUU says the federal government allocated 11,824 hectares to the university and that it has documents establishing its ownership.
