At least 27 dead after shootings at venues in Gauteng and Cape Town

Two mass shootings in South Africa resulted in at least 27 deaths within a few hours, one in Gauteng and the other in Cape Town. The first incident in Wedela involved eight gunmen opening fire at a tavern, killing 17 and injuring 15, then fleeing after setting two vehicles on fire. The second occurred at a shisanyama in Lwandle, Cape Town, where 10 people were killed and 11 wounded. No suspects have been arrested, amid ongoing violence associated with gangs and informal business rivalries.
