At least seven killed in fire at prison in northern Syria

At least seven inmates were killed and others injured in a fire at a prison in Kobane, a predominantly Kurdish town, following a riot triggered by local tensions. The riots began after authorities decided to transfer some inmates to another facility in Aleppo. Protests preceding the fire were linked to the death of a former Kurdish fighter, Sami Sheikhmous Hiso, whose body was found with gunshot wounds.
