At the UN, Judith Suminwa Calls for Strengthening Solidarity Against Forced Displacements in DRC

Rwandan Prime Minister Judith Suminwa called on September 23rd at the UN to strengthen support for populations affected by forced displacements, especially in eastern DRC where conflicts have led to over a million refugees in neighboring countries, around six million internally displaced persons, and over 500,000 refugees hosted in DRC. She emphasized that forced displacements, caused by lack of peace, worsen humanitarian crises, including the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the east. She urged increased humanitarian efforts, peace restoration, and stronger international cooperation, advocating for a combined humanitarian, development, and peace approach.
