National Assembly: Referendum law adopted by majority after 13 articles were revised

The National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo adopted the law setting out the conditions for organizing a referendum on October 23, 2026. The text was reviewed at the request of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo after the Constitutional Court found it constitutional while making observations. The Political, Administrative and Legal Commission revised 13 articles to address those observations. Of the 347 lawmakers who took part in the vote, 346 approved the law, none voted against it, and one abstained.
