Australian authorities are investigating the country's links to a Flydubai co-pilot who attempted to take control of a plane heading to Israel. The co-pilot, identified by multiple media outlets as Hamam al-Hammami, attacked the captain with a crash axe during the Dubai to Tel Aviv flight, before passengers overpowered him. The investigation includes his connections to Australia, where he studied from 2015 to 2017 on a student visa that was canceled in 2019. Australian police and security agencies are also examining whether he was radicalized in Australia.
