Azeez Al-Shaair honours Palestinian children for fifth consecutive week

Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair wrote Maryam Ghanem’s name on the black tape under his eyes during Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London. Two-and-a-half-year-old Maryam survived an Israeli strike on her family’s home in Gaza’s Remal neighbourhood and was found after losing both parents. She was taken to hospital with severe burns. For five weeks, Al-Shaair has used his eye black and social media to draw attention to Palestinians killed in Gaza, despite fines and reported threats to remove him from games.
