Money laundering: New charge complicates Diodio Glow Skin’s situation

The Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor’s office has added money laundering, extortion and incitement to commit an offence charges to the case involving Mame Diarra Thiam, known as Diodio Glow Skin. Her name emerged from an examination of Rokhaya Fall’s phone; investigators found a Wave transfer receipt for 600,000 CFA francs dated March 2, 2026, of which 595,000 francs was received. Prosecutors may seek to link the money transfers to alleged payments for supportive livestreams on social media. Thiam says the transfer was social assistance to Fall; she has been charged and placed under electronic monitoring with a curfew-like home assignment from 10 p.m., and remains presumed innocent.

Niger miners’ deaths: Committee recommends N1.4bn compensation and dismissal of personnel

An independent ministerial committee investigating the deaths of 33 people in NSCDC custody in Minna, Niger State, has recommended N1.4 billion in compensation for victims’ families and survivors. The report, presented in Abuja on Tuesday by committee chairman Jonathan Kure to Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, calls the deaths entirely preventable and recommends dismissing personnel directly responsible. It proposes N30 million for each of the 33 bereaved families and N10 million for each of the 41 survivors, alongside medical, psychological and educational support and a formal federal government apology. The committee attributed the deaths to asphyxiation after prolonged confinement in a severely overcrowded cell, worsened by heat and dehydration, and said the arrest operation lacked an order or approval from NSCDC national headquarters.

Court adjourns judgment until Dec. 2 in El-Rufai’s N1bn suit against ICPC, AGF and IGP

The Federal High Court in Abuja will deliver judgment on Dec. 2 in former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai’s N1 billion suit against the ICPC, the inspector-general of police and the attorney-general of the federation. El-Rufai says a search of his Abuja residence on Feb. 19 violated his fundamental rights and is seeking, among other remedies, to have evidence seized in the search ruled inadmissible. His lawyer was absent when the case was called, so Justice Joyce Abdulmalik deemed the former governor’s filed processes adopted; lawyers for all three respondents urged the court to dismiss the suit. El-Rufai had earlier removed a magistrate from the case after he could not identify the magistrate by name.
