Why Tanzanian security chiefs refused to testify in Lissu treason trial

Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu closed his defense in his treason trial without calling top security chiefs to testify, as they refused to appear, stating they supported the prosecution. Lissu informed the High Court in Dar es Salaam that three security bosses, including the Chief of Defence Forces, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director of Criminal Investigations, had flatly refused to testify in his defense. Lissu has been battling treason charges for over a year now.
