The Bolo-Ouest classified forest planters' collective has appealed to the European Union and the World Bank over the planned destruction of more than 6,605 hectares of cocoa plantations by KAMIS-CI. In two letters, the planters denounce what they consider unlawful destruction and cite alleged violations of property rights, World Bank standards and ILO conventions. The collective reports 21 arrests, including a minor, and five releases after seven months in detention. It is calling for an observation mission and an immediate halt to the destruction.
