Ballon d’Or 2026: Lamine Yamal’s father criticises Spain over Mbappé

Mounir Nasraoui, Lamine Yamal’s father, criticised Spain’s voting in the 2026 Ballon d’Or, suggesting Real Madrid’s influence helped Kylian Mbappé, who finished second with 1,027 points. Yamal placed third with 881 points, behind winner Harry Kane, who scored 73 goals in 65 appearances and became the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001. Nasraoui said he wanted to confront a voter who chose Mbappé and criticised club loyalties influencing individual awards. Yamal, who won his third consecutive Kopa Trophy, congratulated the winners and said he believed his opportunity would come, while turning his focus to helping Barcelona return to winning ways.
