President Bola Tinubu has approved the purchase of additional train coaches and surveillance equipment to expand rail capacity and combat banditry, kidnapping and vandalism. Funso Adebiyi, permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, announced the approval on Saturday during an inspection of the Kano-Maradi railway project. Adebiyi said attacks on rail infrastructure, including threats along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, disrupt services, endanger lives and increase maintenance costs.
