Barcelona fined $670 for approaching Atletico’s Alvarez

The Spanish FA fined Barcelona 602 euros ($670) after Atletico Madrid complained about the club’s contact with Argentine striker Julian Alvarez. Atletico alleged that Barcelona approached the player without first notifying the club in writing; the sanction falls under Article 133 of the federation’s regulations. Atletico also took the case to FIFA, which said it had no jurisdiction. Alvarez, whose contract runs until June 2030, later apologised to Atletico fans for expressing his desire to join Barcelona.
