Bauchi court jails eight over thuggery in Unguwar Dim

A Bauchi court sentenced eight suspects to eight years in prison each for thuggery and disturbing public peace in Unguwar Dim, with each given the option of paying a N370,000 fine. Police received a complaint from the neighbourhood’s Peace and Security Committee on October 14 and raided a suspected hideout the following day, arresting nine people and recovering machetes, knives, sticks and illicit substances. Police spokesman SP Nafiu Habib said eight suspects were charged after investigations and pleaded guilty. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu praised police-community collaboration and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime in Bauchi State.
