Bayern celebrate Kane’s Ballon d’Or and Kompany’s discharge with Magdeburg win

Bayern Munich beat second-tier Magdeburg 6-1 in the second round of the German Cup, resting Harry Kane after his Ballon d’Or win. Kane, the first English player to receive the award since Michael Owen in 2001, was given a guard of honour at the Allianz Arena. Michael Olise scored twice, with Alphonso Davies, Nathaniel Brown and David Santos Daiber also finding the net for Bayern. Coach Vincent Kompany, who was hospitalized after collapsing at training the previous week, missed his second consecutive match on the bench.
