Before the UN, Washington Calls Kinshasa and Kigali to Respect Their Peace Commitments

The United States called on the DRC and Rwanda to fully respect their commitments under the Washington agreements during a UN Security Council meeting in New York on October 13, 2026. US representative Michael Waltz urged Kigali to immediately withdraw its troops and military equipment from Congolese territory and to cease supporting the M23. He also emphasized the need to continue efforts to neutralize the FDLR and to prevent further escalation in eastern DRC, reaffirming Washington's intention to act against those responsible for abuses and illegal resource exploitation.
