Belfort: police officer hospitalized after being assaulted by rioters

A plainclothes police officer was violently assaulted and lost consciousness during an intervention near Belfort's Courbet high school on Friday morning. He was hospitalized with multiple facial wounds after being beaten with fists and feet by a group of youths, including a 17-year-old who was detained. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez condemned the act and stated that investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators, with an investigation for attempted murder opened.
