Beni leaders call for coordinated military operations against the ADF

Leaders from Beni territory and North Kivu condemned an attack attributed to the ADF in the Beni-Mbau sector that reportedly killed around 30 civilians and caused extensive material damage. Meeting on November 7 to assess security, they called for stronger, coordinated operations involving the Congolese army, Uganda’s UPDF, MONUSCO and the Wazalendo. Local leader Bravo Vukulu urged simultaneous operations in Beni, Lubero, Mambasa and Irumu, as well as in parts of Haut-Uele and the Okapi Wildlife Reserve where ADF activity has been reported. He said a lack of coordinated military pressure allows ADF fighters to move between territories.
