A 23-year-old apprentice mason was sentenced to ten years in prison for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Dassa-Zoumè, Benin. The assault occurred on December 1, 2024, when the girl was alone at home in the Plateau neighborhood. The court confirmed the sentence on appeal in November 2025, and the perpetrator was also ordered to pay a one million CFA franc fine to the victim.

South Africa renews target to halve road deaths by 2030
