Benin: $100 million to boost women's entrepreneurship with the World Bank

A $100 million program is being developed between Cotonou and the World Bank to support women entrepreneurs in Benin. This project, named Wedaf, aims to improve access to financing for women, of whom only 12.4% of businesses are formally registered. The financial setup combines World Bank tools to enhance the effectiveness of interventions against the financial and structural obstacles faced by women. In Sub-Saharan Africa, the financing gap for women entrepreneurs exceeds $42 billion each year.
