Benin: 5 years in prison for former deputy police commissioner of Tokplégbé

The Court for the Repression of Economic Offenses and Terrorism (CRIET) sentenced the former second deputy police commissioner of Tokplégbé to five years in prison on July 9, 2026, for abuse of function. He authorized the release of a man held in custody for sexual assault without consulting his superiors, and allegedly received 300,000 CFA francs in return.
