The Benin government plans to invest 600 billion CFA francs in tourism in 2027, aiming to make tourism the second largest driver of the national economy. These funds will develop the coast, enhance lake villages, royal palaces, museums, waterfalls, and promote Vodun culture. By 2030, the country targets 2 million tourists annually and an increase in tourism’s contribution to GDP from 6% to 13%. The 2025-2029 Strategic Tourism Development Plan mobilizes over 1.2 billion euros to strengthen this sector.
