Benin: 68% of youth prefer to start their own business, according to Afrobarometer

A study by Afrobarometer reveals that in August 2026, 68% of Beninese youth aged 18 to 35 prefer to start their own business. The public sector only garners 18% of preferences, while 51% of youth are unemployed. Public investment priorities include job creation (40%), followed by vocational training (23%) and loans for business creation (21%).
