Between August 24 and 30, 2026, about twenty Nigerians were freed in Parakou during three operations conducted by the police, which also arrested a dozen suspects. The victims, recruited in Nigeria with promises of jobs, were reportedly forced to hand over over 10 million CFA francs and were grouped in a location. Authorities suspect the suspects are linked to a scam network associated with QNET, and an investigation is underway.
