Benin: Criminal Record Certificates Issued Instantly Online Since November 1

Since November 1, 2026, people already known to Benin’s administration can obtain a criminal record certificate instantly through service-public.bj using their personal identification number (NPI), without supporting documents. Applicants submit a request in three steps by phone or computer and can immediately download the automatically generated certificate. The service is also available to Beninese citizens living abroad and costs 1,900 CFA francs; requests that cannot be processed automatically go to the National Criminal Records Center. The Ministry of Justice and Legislation warns users against extra charges and payments to intermediaries.
