Benin: Democrats unveil 60-member political bureau

Delegates of the Democrats party met in Porto-Novo on October 10 and 11, 2026, and formed a 60-member political bureau led by Nourénou Atchadé, who was reappointed by consensus. The new team includes four vice-presidents, an administrative secretariat, officials overseeing treasury and resource mobilization, and leaders for several party portfolios. It is tasked with implementing the congress’s priorities and setting administrators’ allowances, whose terms were left unresolved.
