Benin: Egun-gun demonstrations banned in Abomey-Calavi

Demonstrations of the Egun-gun cult have been banned in Abomey-Calavi since September 18, 2026, according to a decision by Mayor Nathanaël Koty. This measure, which applies to the entire municipal territory, will remain in effect until the completion of a reorganization process regarding the representation of this cult. Leaders of Egun-gun convents are required to enforce this ban, under the threat of legal sanctions.
