The Benin government reminds that, due to police abuses and the risk of extortion during road checks, citizens should pay their fines only at the Treasury and request a receipt. They are also encouraged to report police misconduct or extortion by contacting the Presidency of the Republic via free phone numbers. Since March 2024, the digital payment system for fines has been implemented, allowing payments online or at Treasury offices, including for impound fees. These steps aim to better regulate traffic violation payments and combat police corruption.
