Benin: In Ouidah, former DAAD scholarship holders reflect on the challenge of reintegration

The network of former DAAD scholarship holders opened a four-day workshop on June 10, 2026 in Ouidah, focusing on the return and reintegration of academic scholarship beneficiaries in Benin. The meeting brings together former scholars, researchers, and representatives from West African countries under the theme 'From Academic Mobility to National Development'. Discussions cover obstacles to employment, recognition of foreign degrees, and lack of post-study support mechanisms. Idriss Daouda (organizing committee chairman) and Laetitia Dagnonhouéto (president of the alumni association) called for leveraging skills acquired abroad for national development.
