Benin: Mirador operation reaches 63,600 people through civil-military initiatives

In Cotonou on October 8 and 9, 2026, the Mirador operation command presented the results of civil-military initiatives carried out in northern Benin since January 2025: 73 activities across 18 communes reached about 63,600 people. These included 17 free medical campaigns serving 21,607 patients, ten water projects supplying about 34,000 residents, as well as school, veterinary and dialogue initiatives. Thirty projects were completed after approval by committees bringing together the military, local authorities and civil society representatives. Launched in 2022 to strengthen security along Benin’s borders with Burkina Faso and Niger, the operation is supported in part by Spirit of America and Strategic Stabilization Advisors.
