Benin-Nigeria: Customs aim for less than 3 hours for goods passage at Sèmè-Kraké

The passage of goods at the Sèmè-Kraké border could be reduced from 12 to 36 hours to less than three hours thanks to a new customs data exchange system between Benin and Nigeria. The pilot project, launched on September 11, 2026, relies on the CDES, enabling the interconnection of the customs systems of both countries. Equipment and procedures will also be strengthened to improve goods control and facilitate coordination between customs administrations.
