Benin: the CES takes a step forward after the validation of its internal regulations

The internal regulations of the Economic and Social Council (CES) were validated by the Constitutional Court of Benin on August 27, 2026, after being adopted by the plenary assembly with 18 out of 21 votes. The Court confirmed that all provisions were in accordance with the Constitution. This validation is part of a mandatory procedure for several institutions, including the CES, according to Articles 117 and 123 of the Constitution. The first extraordinary session of the eighth mandate of the CES took place in Cotonou and concluded on August 20, 2026.
