Benue council imposes curfew on Gboko town after deadly protest

The Executive Chairman of Gboko Local Government Area, Barrister Toseer Yina, imposed an immediate dusk-to-dawn curfew to contain violent unrest following the death of a BEMOA member shot by suspected gunmen. Members of the association protested, but the demonstration was hijacked by hoodlums, leading to the burning of two Civil Protection Guards vehicles. The local security council warned that violators would be dealt with decisively, though essential service providers are exempt.
