Rent Prices in Senegal: President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's Announcement Before His Ministers

During the Council of Ministers on September 2, 2026, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye reiterated the need to regulate rent prices in Senegal. A presidential decree from March 2023 established a gradual reduction scale for rents, but the implementation of these measures remains inadequate. Despite the creation of a National Rent Regulation Commission, many landlords circumvent the regulations, making the situation challenging for tenants. Housing has been identified as a social priority for the government since its installation in 2024.
