Bertoua: a 28 km bypass to ease congestion at a strategic node of the Douala-Bangui corridor

On April 21, 2026, the city of Bertoua approved the route for a 28 km bypass project aimed at alleviating congestion caused by heavy vehicle traffic. The route will start from Bonis and bypass the city center, passing through the neighborhoods of Ngaikada and Yadia. The project, led by the state and the Ministry of Housing, saw a restricted national call for tenders published on March 17, 2026, for the necessary studies for its construction.
