Besigye, Lukwago evacuated from Luzira Prison for medical care

The Uganda Prisons Service confirmed that opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye and former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago were evacuated from Luzira Prison for medical care at the Joint Clinical Research Centre. Despite social media reports suggesting they were in critical condition, prisons spokesperson Frank Baine stated that both were stable. Dr Besigye is facing treason charges and has requested to receive specialized medical treatment abroad.
