Between democracy, neoliberalism and the developmental state in fixing Nigeria

Nigeria urgently needs a developmental state and a renegotiated engagement with development partners, particularly multilateral institutions like the World Bank and IMF. The author points out that democracy, especially in its procedural liberal form, has not always been developmental and often serves to perpetuate dependency structures. He calls for significant political will and theoretical analysis to transform the country's democratic and developmental pathways.
