In KwaZulu-Natal, a breast cancer diagnosis within the public healthcare system often comes with a double burden: fighting for survival and losing personal identity after a mastectomy. Reach for Recovery's third annual 5km Fun Walk on October 3 aims to raise awareness about early detection and support underprivileged women by funding mammograms and silicone breast prostheses through their DITTO Project. Since 1967, the organization, staffed mainly by breast cancer survivors, has provided peer support and medical assistance to women in hospitals across the region.
