Blaming the Opposition for Hunger Is Delusional, Atiku Says

Former Nigerian vice president Atiku Abubakar accused President Bola Tinubu of blaming the opposition for the country’s economic hardship after Tinubu’s remarks at the APC campaign launch in Kaduna. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate said the government must answer for the rising cost of living, the removal of the petrol subsidy and the naira’s depreciation, which he said had fallen from about ₦471 to ₦1,329 per dollar. Atiku also cited a World Bank estimate that 63% of Nigerians would be below the national poverty line in 2026 and questioned government spending and the planned inauguration of a section of the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
