Bongo artists’ love-hate relations with ‘moral police’ Basata

Tanzanian singers are in trouble again as the National Arts Council (Basata) has imposed song bans and a combined fine of Tsh19 million ($7,100) on five artists for allegedly violating national moral values. Nandy was fined Tsh3 million ($1,138) for her attire, which Basata deemed indecent, during her performance at Miss Universe Tanzania 2026 in Dar es Salaam.
