Boni Khalwale Eyes Kakamega Governor Seat on Sifuna’s Party

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, currently serving on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, announced he will run for governor on whichever party Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna chooses for the 2027 general elections. He expressed willingness to abandon his plans to contest the Kakamega gubernatorial race on the United Patriotic Movement (UPM) ticket, following a decision by UPM founders and the interim National Executive Committee to support Sifuna regardless of his party affiliation. Khalwale stated that if Sifuna runs on a different party, they will support him and back his presidential bid, while also supporting Sifuna as the candidate for Kakamega governor.
