Brazil 2026 election live: Lula and Bolsonaro in tight race

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, face each other in a runoff after neither won more than 50 percent of the vote on October 4. Security, the cost of living, the economy and corruption are among the main issues, with the winner expected to be announced within hours of polls closing. Lula, who is about to turn 81, is seeking another term after serving three terms as president.
