The Ivorian government sounded the alarm over a sharp decline in breastfeeding indicators. Less than one-third of newborns are breastfed within the first hour, and only 25% receive exclusive breastfeeding until six months. Minister Pierre N'Gou Dimba announced a multisectoral breastfeeding acceleration plan for 2026-2027 during the first scientific days on breastfeeding in Abidjan. UNICEF representative Jean-François Basse called for increased funding and better protection for mothers.
