BRICS: The Iran-Israel Conflict and Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz at the Heart of Discussions

The BRICS foreign ministers are meeting in New Delhi to discuss international crises, particularly the conflict between Iran and Israel, as well as disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Indian Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar emphasized the impact of these tensions on global trade and called for a collective response to unilateral sanctions. The discussions also address the humanitarian consequences of the war in Gaza and the situations in Lebanon and Syria. This meeting prepares for the BRICS summit of heads of state scheduled for September 2026.
