Budget 2026/27: CS Mbadi Set to Present Kenya’s Largest-Ever Ksh4.8 Trillion Budget

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi unveiled a record Ksh4.8 trillion spending plan for the 2026/27 financial year. The budget prioritizes job creation, agricultural transformation, and social infrastructure. The government targets domestic revenue of Ksh3 trillion, leaving a deficit of Ksh1.1 trillion to be financed through domestic borrowing. The opposition proposed an alternative budget of Ksh4.3 trillion, which was criticized by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah.
