El Salvador has launched a military operation to rescue four of its soldiers, aviation technicians with the UN-backed Gang Suppression Force, who were abducted in Haiti, President Nayib Bukele said. The men went missing after fleeing a burning armoured vehicle in Santo, Croix-des-Bouquets, Port-au-Prince, following a gang attack three days earlier. Haiti’s government called their release an “absolute priority,” but it was unclear whether authorities had confirmation that the men were alive.
