Burglary and motorcycle theft in Benin: Eight people arrested in Cotonou

Eight people have been arrested in a Republican Police operation targeting a group suspected of burglaries and motorcycle thefts, based in Yagbé and reportedly planning to operate in Akpakpa. Arrests were made in Agblangandan, Ekpè and Cotonou’s 5th and 7th districts; the alleged ringleader remains at large. Searches yielded a television, a laptop, motorcycle parts, two car jacks and four phones, whose messages suggest that around ten stolen motorcycles may have been taken to a neighboring country for resale. Four victims have been identified, and investigations are continuing.
